The focus of the Mortgage Call Report (MCR) panel is on compliance and data quality. Kirsten Anderson, regulator from the state of Oregon, provided an overview of MCR compliance in her state and the actions that Oregon is taking to push for timely and accurate data. She also described the work that is underway by regulators to create risk analysis metrics that will use MCR data to identify companies with high risk profiles. Laura Zitting, compliance and reporting manager for Primary Residential Mortgage Inc., described the approach and effort undertaken by her team to prepare the call report each month. She encouraged regulators to streamline state reporting requirements as a way to help industry improve accuracy with the MCR. Rich Cortes, regulator from the state of Connecticut, detailed particular portions of the MCR that he scrutinizes to determine the financial viability of his licensed companies. The slides from this seminar should be helpful to regulators and companies alike who work with the MCR.
